About Us

Techmace has been creating and maintaining technical documentation for the maritime industry since 1997.

How it started

Techmace was founded in 1997 by ir. Johan van der Plas. In a period of time were digitalization took off, Techmace had to find it’s own path forward within this new tech industry and decided to specialize in technical communication.

Because Techmace was located in Sliedrecht, (Zuid-Holland, the Netherlands) it’s clients were mainly from the maritime industry, and more specifically the dredging industry.

During a period of more than two decades we created and maintained over 200 large technical documents such as operating manuals for trailing suction hopper dredgers and cutter suction dredgers.

We also decided to specialize in a workflow based on Adobe Framemaker because of the good experiences we gained working together with companies like Royal IHC on many technical documentation projects.

Logo of Techmace
The blue logo represents the contours of the earliest known drawing for an aerial machine we can call a helicopter. It was made in the 15th century by the world renowned Italian scientist and artist Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). We think he was also the first person we can call a true technical communicator.
